Pastels became my best friend when our girls were young and taking naps. I could pop into the basement studio, put on gloves, and get to it! In two hours I'd have something to show and, when I'd hear a cry, take off the gloves and return to life as I knew it then. Now I have more time as our girls are older, but pastels are a favorite and remind me of me as an artist and new mother.
