Papers to paint on
Paper is an inexpensive and delightful way to make paintings and explore new techniques and mediums. When using a water-based medium, a good-quality rag paper will act like a sponge and absorb some of the water quickly, allowing the paint to sit on the surface. When you use gouache, the matte finish of the paint is more accented showing it’s velvety goodness. I love it.
For many of my episodes, I use Stonehenge paper, the Kraft version and the Black. Both are wonderful in showcasing the opacity of the paint. It’s all about the contrast!
