My Tim and I celebrated our 20th anniversary this past weekend with a trip into Boston. Itโ€™s fun to stay overnight somewhere close to home and have time to enjoy a spot you know a little more and explore spots you always wanted to check out. This post will cover some of the highlights with more to come in a future post :)

We toured the Boston Athenaeum at 10 1/2 Beacon Street, a private library established in 1807 that we have walked past for years as we walked the Freedom Trail, passing the State House headed toward Faneuil Hall. So many books! Such cool spaces!!

I like weird addresses like that, especially when itโ€™s a 12 story building. How can this place be a half address?

Our girls are too old for the childrenโ€™s library section but this light fixture was worth popping in to see there. Itโ€™s beautiful!! ๐ŸŒŒ

Each floor has a spot for books needing to find their way back to the shelves. And itโ€™s funny, which is a bonus.

And itโ€™s a lending library for contemporary books you didnโ€™t know youโ€™d need to flip through until you saw them, too.

Later that afternoon we went to the Museum of Fine Arts.

It was the second-to-last day for the special exhibit on Van Goghโ€™s Roulin Family portraits and Iโ€™m happy that Tim and I got in to see them. It was FANTASTIC!

Now that I have a weekly art show I have been excitedly collecting content for future episodes. Looking at these paintings up close gave me such a rush of energy and thoughts! The marks and colors and direction and composition and and and and!

This quote is taking up some valuable space in my thoughts right now.

My fancy sparkling water from the museum cafeteria seems perfectly designed for a museum beverage with its bougie design. Being here was a full-circle moment, too. While having a bite to eat we realized that our second date was at the MFA, way back in 1993. We saw a fantastic exhibit on American watercolors and had lunch at the cafeteria. :) Happy 20th anniversary to us!
